RESCUE INHALER

The goal of this project was to design an efficient and sleek inhaler that would give the user confidence when using it in public. Inhalers have been around for decades and have changed little in this time period. They have traditionally been utilitarian devices that are awkward to use and transport due to their bulky “L” shape. Inspiration was drawn from timeless products such as zippos and flasks.

MODELING

The design brief required use of existing hardware and sustainable materials. The inhaler should have minimal moving parts. These restrictions are minimal and provided a lot of creative freedom.

A simple and ergonomic shape will make it easy to use and transport. A soft, round shape would allow users to comfortably in most pockets, allowing the user accessibility to their medication at a moments notice.

FINAL DESIGN

An ergonomically designed fusion of vintage and modern aesthetics mesh to create a handsome and practical product. Prime was designed for all age groups that care about their appearance and want to appear hip when using their inhaler. My goal was to encompass the feeling, look and analog mechanics that Zippo lighters possess by transforming them into an inhaler.

PROJECT

Prime uses a replaceable aluminum medication cartridge with a built in mouthpiece. Cartridges are purchased pre-filled, and empty cartridges are returned for recycling. The mouthpiece is waterproof which allows for easy cleaning using soap and water. Medication is triggered by a slide down button resembling the action of using a lighter. This acquired action gives Prime a classic analog quality. To increase its vintage appeal, copper inlays were incorporated to give Prime a masculine and timeless appearance. Sleek aesthetics along with high functionality make Prime a unique product solution.
