PACKAGING
Thalia Capos LLC
Beyond my work that directly contributed to the success of the Thalia Capo. I was more impressed with how the packaging contributed to the overall customer experience. The Thalia Capo is a premium product priced at five times that of a typical capo. This meant the packaging had to meet or exceed the aesthetics and feel of the product.

GENERATIONS OF THALIA PACKAGING
2ndEdison Inc / Thalia Capos LLC

GEN ONE
The generation one packaging was a polycarbonate snap case that housed the capo only. The case design incorporated a molded cross-section of a guitar neck that enabled the capo to clip directly to the packaging; eliminating the need for fasteners and reducing cost.

GEN TWO
The 2nd generation retail package design was inspired by book displays. The packaging needed to convey the appropriate information to ensure a consumer was able to self-educate themselves about the product quickly and accurately. Each of our 99 SKUs had a unique artwork to go along with it, by placing the most pertinent product information, finish and inlay, on the spine of the packaging allowed dealers to optimize shelf space without sacrificing key information provided by the packaging.

GEN THREE
The Generation Three Packaging was a child born from both Gen One and Gen Two designs. Aimed at removing quality control issues, the packaging was a three piece polycarbonate snap case. Both the bottom and top lid are clear; allowing workers to easily inspect the product and contents before shipping. Supply chain issues were also addressed by designing a secondary housing that could house the capo along with all its accessories.

Other goals of the project was to improve the user experience, shelf appeal and reduce its overall weight. These factors benefited both our direct and wholesale business model. The design consisted of three parts each made of polycarbonate. The design’s idea was to have two compartments, one which served the product and the other to house the added accessories and user guides. This design provided the ability to store and protect the product in a compact, lightweight, travel-friendly case.

FRETPAD PACKAGING
The feature behind the Thalia Capo is a set of interchangeable pads that match the radius of a fretboard on a guitar neck. Each capo comes with a set of twelve. This magnetic latching packaging provided the user with a elegant solution for storing pads and picks.

PROJECT
The Celebrity Gift Box’s premium design was inspired by cigar boxes. The design incorporates a flip-top lid and two sliding drawers to store and organize the fourteen fretpads that are included with every capo. The box itself is made of high-end soft touch laminate and includes a hidden magnetic latch.
